John Mowry My testimony
Growing up as a child my father was an alcoholic. i n1974 my father quit drinking and became aa counselor. and opened in the late seventies a halfway house for men. After battling cancer he passed away in 1983.as a teen i observed many addicts in and out of relapse. I set up the donuts for the AA meetings and even baked cakes for the men at the halfway house. seeing what alcohol did to my family and others in program, I vowed to never drink but through the pull of the worldly influence i began my drinking at age 18 and and my life was on a downward spiral for many years .At age 27 i gave my heart to God and he set me free of alcohol, Looking back my Fathers program i remembered that the only positive recovery i saw in his clients was those who had found Christ. And through my deliverance i new God can set people’s lives free .Soon after i heard the call of the Lord to reach out to those addicted and with out hope and in january of 1994 at age 32 i started to reach out on the streets of Columbus .And Feed My Sheep Ministry was born. I started volunteering with taking it to the streets ministry and then started feeding at the open shelter. preparing food in a mobile home then taking it to the streets and to the shelter later then our home Church The Potters House Church Of God became a supporter and put us under their umbrella ,we also started at the YMCA mens shelter and the friends of the homeless . more churches became on board though volunteers and donations in March 2010 we had the opportunity to reach out to a broader need to include Families and Children along with the Homeless in the Franklinton Area at the Jericoh’s Light club outreach Facility. And then in June 2011 we were offered a rent free facility in the impoverished hilltop area and also established our own 501c 3 status as a public Charity .As we grew and also delt with zoning issues We moved to a temporary sight at Highland Elememtary School In sept of 2012. In April of 2013 we stepped out in Faith to lease a 4000 square ft Building at 2364 W broad that is called Feed my Sheep Ministries Outreach Center .We currently operate the hilltop center and the Jericoh”s Location Every tuesday evening. In October of 2013 after 19 years we had to cease operations at the Friends of the homeless due to the need to focus on the needs of the other 2 locations and to be more effective in our ministry and to Fulfill the Vision God gave Me. We currenty still have the First rent free hilltop Location that is now a free clothes store . with household goods and personal hygyne products.
